Lucky And Blessed, Album Release Semi-Imminent
I am finally at the 95% completion threshold of a new album I'm calling Lucky and Blessed so I'm formally announcing it and putting it up for pre-order. Grab it here!
This album is a collection of sounds I've been poring over for almost two years. I have this background anxiety that if I'm not showing my work, then I'm not doing any work, and that tends to blind me to all the stuff I am actually doing, even if I have nothing to post about. This album is essentially the end state of several recordings that I suddenly realized were not only sonically contiguous but ready to release. It was a surprise to me. I don't give myself enough credit for the fact that, because it feels good to be working on something, I'm basically always working on something. Even if I don't take the time to measure the progress regularly, I'm progressing (mostly).
I'm extremely proud of the music on this album. In the last couple years I think I've finally arrived at a mode of working and making music that feels like it's mine. I've stopped trying to mimic what I see others doing procedurally and I've started just following the line in the direction my brain takes it and it feels great.
I'll write more about this album between now and when it formally releases in November; this post was just to say.
Also I'd like to thank my friend Christina Valdez for fielding my silly album artwork request. I texted her on a random Saturday morning from a Home Depot parking lot with this idea and I'm so happy with how it turned out.
